About the Orchestra
The 9th Street Philharmonic Orchestra was created by Alex Innecco in 2005 as the “symphonic branch” of the Columbia Chorale. Its ranks are not permanent, meaning that for each concert the orchestra personnel may change significantly.
9spo's mission is to open up an opportunity for young musicians, conductors and soloists to perform, while bringing exciting and challenging repertoire to Columbia’s audiences.
This is 9spo's fourth season independently from the Columbia Chorale. Last year's orchestral repertoire included Liszt's, Beethoven's and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concertos, Mendelssohn's Elijah and a pop's concert.
With the Columbia Chorale, 9spo has performed Verdi's Requiem, Haydn's Creation, Beethoven 9, Mozart's C Minor Mass and two Opera Gala concerts.
